Ewan is a registered European Patent Attorney and Chartered UK Patent Attorney and has worked in all areas of IP Law in senior roles both in private practice and as corporate in-house counsel. In recent years, Ewan has specialised in P.R. China, Hong Kong, and South-East Asia IP law, practice and procedure.

Ewan’s expertise covers a diverse range of technologies including telecommunications, fibre optics, cooling systems, petrochemical, optical components, pressure ignition, mechanical and electro-mechanical devices, software and computer-implemented inventions, integrated circuit design and manufacture.

Ewan is a member of the Hong Kong SAR Government Commerce and Economic Development Commission’s Advisory Committee on Review of the Patent System in Hong Kong. He is also a member of the Innovation and Technology Commission’s Steering Committee on Review of Intellectual Property Issues in the Innovation and Technology Sectors in Hong Kong.

Dr. Chan is a professionally qualified Patent Attorney in Australia and New Zealand, and a registered Trade Mark Attorney in Australia. She is experienced in drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications in various major jurisdictions, and has provided numerous patent infringement, freedom to operate, and validity opinions for clients. She has also handled industrial design and trade mark matters for clients from a variety of industries. Particularly, she has worked with clients from a number of universities and research institutes in Hong Kong and Australia, as well as various local and international clients ranged from small businesses, start-ups, companies listed in the HKEX, to multinational companies.

Dr Chan's areas of technical expertise include chemical and chemical engineering; pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and bioengineering; polymers and material science; nanotechnology; medical and healthcare; skincare and cosmeceuticals; green technology and ESG related technology, etc.

Dr. Chan has a Bachelor's degree in Chemical and Polymer Engineering, a Master of philosophy degree in Bioengineering, a Doctorate in Chemical Engineering, and a Master's degree in Intellectual Property Law. She has worked as a research scientist in a number of universities in Hong Kong and Australia, and has been in a R&D management role in a leading cosmeceutical company in Australia. Prior to joining InCompass IP, she was a patent attorney at a leading international IP firm in Hong Kong.

Dr. Chan is a member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) Hong Kong, the International Trademark Association (INTA), the Hong Kong Institute of Trade Mark Practitioners (HKITMP), and the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA). She is also recognised by leading IP publications such as the IP Lawyers as the recommended IP practitioner in Hong Kong for 2023.

Peggy Cheung, recognized as a leading IP practitioner in Hong Kong, has more than 30 years of experience advising clients on brand protection strategies, complex IP litigation, licensing, franchising, technology transfer, advertising laws and compliance with data privacy laws in Hong Kong, China and the Asia region. She also advises clients on mergers and acquisitions and corporate and commercial disputes.

Peggy holds a number of other professional and honorary appointments, including being an Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong College of Cardiology, panelist of the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Center and the Kuala Lumpur Regional Center for Arbitration, past president and current council member of the Hong Kong Institute of Trade Mark Practitioners (HKITMP), past-councillor of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), and honorary legal advisor of the Institute of Cardiovascular Science and Medicine, the Sun Chieh Yeh Heart Foundation, and the Hong Kong College of Cardiology.

Peggy is a Justice of the Peace of Hong Kong and holds a public office as a member of the Estate Agents Authority and serves on the board of the Tin Ka Ping Foundation. She also serves as chair of the Appeal Tribunal (Buildings), chair of the Fishermen Claims Appeal (Trawl Ban) Board, chair of the Appeal Panel (Housing), member of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel of Hong Kong and an observer of the Independent Police Compliants Council. She was also an adjudicator of the Registration of Persons Tribunal from December 2008 to November 2014.

Vivian has more than 25 years experience in advising multi-national and local clients in brand protection strategies around the world. In particular her focus is on trade mark advisory portfolio work, including auditing and due diligence for commercial transactions. She has recently advised a well know restaurant on their licensing strategies around the world.

She has represented clients in the electronics, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, hospitality, cosmetics, clothing, luxury goods industries and assisted them in their brand management.

Vivian previously worked in one of the largest IP practise in Hong Kong and participated in many international conferences and events such as INTA, PTMG, Marques and CITMA every year. She also served in the INTA sub- committees over the years and is recognised by leading IP publications such as Managing IP, World Trademark Review 1000, Who’s Who Legal, Euro Money Legal Media Group’s Expert Guides.
